from P P P Penguins to Pirates…

Its a varied madhouse we live in. Today

most of the club were dressed up as pirates, which makes a change from it being just himself and me dressed up as penguins! Mr O was a particularly fine example of the genre:

Commodore on the other hand promoted himself to Admiral and commandeered the Galleon:

The slaves worked hard:

And even the Gloriana passed by and saluted us:

But, seriously the Club did itself proud today. The Pirates’ day was in aid of the Starlight Charity which “brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting wishes-of-a-lifetime and providing laughter and entertainment to children is hospitals and hospices across the UK”. See www.starlight.org.uk . Many children, with their families, arrived at the boat club for the day and had a great time with the games that had been set up. We provided a bbq lunch and afternoon tea. But the highlight of the day for many was a trip on one of the Club’s boats.

Most skippers let the children have a turn at steering which hopefully explains why no-one was driving in a straight line!

And all week many members had worked hard to create that pirate atmosphere:

The star attraction – how did you manage to get that Derek?
The riverside bar is renamed after our Steward…
the log store
And last but not least, the entrance to the World of Pirates.
