Easter Sunday happens next. We are still on a cruise in our minds but we are going every where by car. Batman and Robin
excelled themselves today and booked us all into the Boulter’s Brasserie at Boulters lock in Maidenhead. If you haven’t been there …go. Great food and better views, looking straight down the Thames. There is even a mooring.
Of course, being an Easter Cruise the idea was that we would all pile on two or three boats and sail the short distance from Windsor Marina to the restaurant, and then mosey on home again afterwards. But of course the cruise was off and we all arrived from our various locations by car.
And of course there was an Easter Bonnet competition.
After the excitement of the competition and the delights of lunch, it was of course Easter Egg time. A little thank you to every one for coming along and making a fun weekend out of a meteorological disaster!
Here are pics of most of you,

Andrew thanked everyone at the end:
First of all thank you very much for your participation this weekend, and making the most of this somewhat disrupted Easter cruise. In typical TMYC fashion I think we have managed to make the most of everything the weather has thrown at us. So the weekend has been great fun for us, because of you. If a little unnecessarily stressful at times!
We were always looking forward to the first boating event of the season, not least because of the superb programme devised by the master organiser David Jones. David please come and accept this thank-you from us. David was ably assisted by his right-hand man Keith Robbins who volunteered to sort out this fine venue today. Keith please come and accept this gift from us. David also tells me that I should thank, in particular Chris Turner and Derek Prentice for helping so much over the weekend.
And as its Easter Sunday I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter in the traditional manner:
First of all to those boats who made it to Runnymede with us – Speedbird and Darkest Dreaming, please accept this Easter Egg. Flying Colours can’t be with us unfortunately as Pat has gone to outpatients this morning. We await news.
Secondly a Happy Easter to the people who braved the muddy goose poo around Etta to join us onboard for a drink on Friday night. Conway Star and Harbour Lights, here are your Easter Eggs.
Then there was the boat that got to Staines, that’s nearly Runnymede – Caleg.
And the boat that got as far as Sunbury! Brainwave…
Then four boats that decided very sensibly not to even leave their moorings this weekend – Severa, White Onyx , K-ser-A and Odyssea
And the boat that was never going to leave its moorings – Silver Sceptre.
And last but not least the couple who left their boat in the Netherlands – Cartagena.

Dear Commodore’s Lady,
Thank you for keeping everyone safe but also encouraging all to make the best of it.
I managed to overcome the desire to take the Batmoboat out on the water and am now safely back in the Batcave with Batwoman.
Thanks to my team of batlets, Robin, Fiona, Derek, Chris and Linda for their help and support without whom I would have hung upside down in some bar.

Thank you Andrew and Elaine for your hospitality on Friday evening and for the arrangements and Easter eggs yesterday. It was a great lunch.
As from a warm bed (its the leg you know!) I contemplate the whole river being on red boards and the numerous flood alerts on the Thames I come all over in a cold sweat when I realise that had all been well I would be facing 9 locks this morning. Another cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit please darling and turn up the electric blanket a notch if you would.
Dear Elaine & Andrew
Many thanks for this W/E & your very sound advice not to continue . We had a great time despite the weather even if on occasions we
didn’t know If we were water or road borne .
Thank you for drinks & nibbles & the yummy
Easter Egg .

I quite enjoyed the weekend although the plans had to change. We cant always have sunshine but at least we gave it a try. As it was raining all afternoon at Runnymeade I entertained myself with cooking lobscouse from scratch then settled into a good book I bought along (Ghosts of Empire, Britain’s legacies in the modern world) which made me a tadge late for wine call. On the way back on saturday I did some filming with my new 4k camera it took just 2 hours to get back to my mooring near shepperton square, and since found out that IW used to moor opposite when he was younger.
On sunday I walked up to boulters weir and saw that all weir sluices were fully up hence the free flow. During the meal at 1600hrs a K2 canoe shot passed down the weir stream although the Devises to westminster canoe race had been stopped at Reading earlier. That pair were obviously not snowflakes.
Roll on Bath.
I will put the film on youtube and put the link up here meanwhile my mooring pic http://www.instagram.com/p/BhE-mzQHObj/
