Nonsense in Nieuwpoort

The short sea trip from Dunkirk to Nieuwpoort

was incident free and we arrived in Nieuwpoort to bright sunshine and very cheap fuel! Cheaper than the 60/40 paid for in Ramsgate. D’oh?

Ann and I set off to find the office that was ‘20 minutes away’ to buy the 8 inland waterway passes we would need on Sunday. Two abortive offices and 2 long miles later we found the St. Joris lock that dispenses these licences for some 80 euros per boat. We settled down to fill in the forms when their computer broke down. We were advised to come back the next day arghhh!

In the evening we had lots of fun nonsense. Welcome to Belgium drinks at the KYCN club restaurant. Our intrepid Severa turned up 7 minutes late but then they had left Chatham at lunchtime. An excellent meal as always at the club. No solettes but a fab whole diver soul. With Belgian frites of course.

Not quite sure what this piece of nonsense is?

The next day Tim and Andrew are sent on their bicycles to get the blessed passes. Suffice to say that 8 long forms , several phones calls and 2 hours later all is complete.

They stop off for lunch on the way back, at another boat club. There are a lot round here.

Today is Keith’s birthday. Pauline puts on cakes and bubbly snd Odyssea gets a blue at last.

Well, he got his blue but it seemed to take an awfully long time to put it on!
